Emmeline at 2 Months

Having a baby threw my world upside down and I had to figure out how my new life functions. At 2 months postpartum I finally feel like my life has started to make sense again.
It is such a joy to stay home and watch Emmeline grow and learn new things everyday. I used to think that would be boring, but far from it, it is in fact both exciting and bittersweet. It's fascinating watching her learn new things. I get so excited about every new advancement, no matter how small. But at the same time it makes me so sad that she's growing up, part of me wants her to stay little forever--a feeling that every mother feels I'm sure.

Oh, and her 2 month checkup--was as predicted: awful! Soo many shots on a baby is a sad, sad thing. Eric and I both got a little teary eyed about it. Her screams were just so awful, but thankfully she seemed to recover fairly quickly. In fact she even had a little play date with Great Grandma right afterwards while I cleaned the new house before moving day.

Her 2 month stats:

Weight: 9 lbs. 6 oz.  17%
Height: 22.5 in.  59%
Head circ: 14.5 in.  9%

Picture of the day we went for her checkup.
Her new accomplishments:
  • She smiles a lot now, and will even smile at strangers.
  • She has started cooing and squeaking, it is the most adorable thing ever.
  • She loves her hands. She likes to suck on them. In fact she loves them so much that shoves BOTH of her hands in her mouth at the same time.
She's probably closely to 3 months in this picture, but it's the best picture of her eating her hands.
  • Two nights before we moved to our new house Emmeline feel asleep in her own crib and mommy and daddy got their bed back to themselves. And what was even more miraculous, she slept the whole night long. In fact, I woke up on my own and there was silence. I leaped out of bed to see if she was okay, because I hadn't woken to silence since before she was born. And there she was in her crib, awake, just looking around. Hallelujah, finally!
  • We still struggle with naps, but after that first night, she sleeps well in her crib at night. and will generally sleep 6-7 hours at night!

We love this picture! She looks so cute and goofy :)

The Last Wedding

When Emmeline was 7 weeks old, my little sister got married. It was such a spectacular day, that I'm sad that there are no more weddings for my immediate family... at least for another 15 years or more :)

It was such a special moment to be in the temple with my parents and both my sisters and their husbands. It made me look forward even more to the day when Eric and I can hopefully go to the temple with Emmeline and all of our future children. I know not everyone is so lucky in this life, but I hope that that feeling that was so present and so poignant can motivate me to do all that I can to make it so.

The nieces and nephew :)

Emmeline got along famously. We were so relieved. She did so well with all the coming and going. We were really nervous that she would scream the whole time we were in the sealing, but she slept the whole time. Thanks again to Catherine for watching her :)

Emmeline was passed around from family member to family member, smiled at each one and slept in many of their arms. It was a nice little break for Eric and I. We even got to dance at the reception.

My favorite picture of my little family, ever :)

Best buds

One of the best moments of the day--and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this--was when my beautiful and vivacious Grandma boogied down on the dance floor. I know she likes to dance, but I've never actually seen her let loose. She literally breathed life into the party.

Priceless

Congratulations Tori and Kevin. We're so happy for you, and are so glad that Kevin is now officially a part of our family.
